Review

Everything from the premise of this book to the characterization was just wonderfully done.
It was an escape, and it was a quick and easy read. I thoroughly enjoyed the novel and it was very well written and had plenty of surprises along the way to keep the readers interest.
I think the pacing was very well done in this novel, it moved just quickly enough to keep me interested without feeling like it was skipping too much or rushing.

As a recent retiree from a forty-year career as a professor of writing, he now lives in Southern California wine country with his wife, Kitty, and their two adorable rescue cats.

Review

This novel is unique. I loved the characters, they were by far my favorite part of the novel. Just look at that book cover, you can tell what kind of story you will get. The cover and the way the characters are on it really emulates the feel and mood of the story.

These characters are all so different. You get a little of everything while reading it.

I think this is a novel that you wont realize you needed to read until after you’ve finished it. It lightens the mood and is a great escape.

After graduating from high school in 1989 and attending one year at NLU I decided (actually my parents did) I wasn’t ready for college, so I did what every 19 year old kid does….I moved to the Marshal Islands in the mid pacific.  After a few years I came home, meet my wife and settle down for a short bit.  I worked construction, opening my own sporting goods store, became a full-time fireman, opened a candle manufacturing company, and even rodeo for a short term.  Just not at the same time.  In 2003 we moved to Franklin TN were I sold fire trucks until 2010 and moved to Arkansas.  Since here in the Ozark Mountains I have written eight novels and currently working on my ninth, a new adult novel.  So that’s me in a quick whirl wind.  And yes, if you check out my web site or social media you will see me with our pet raccoons, Tucker and Otter.

book blurb

Tobias Walcott, the Earl of Blade, has learned it is best to exercise rigid control over his passions and emotions in all that he does. Uncaring that it makes him seem cool and aloof to most in the ton, he is content with his desire to only woo agreeable and demur females. Then unforeseen circumstances see him trapped in a closet at a house party with the last woman he would ever make his countess.

Lady Olivia Sherwood is everything he should not desire in a female—unconventional, too decisive, and utterly without decorum. But passion ignites between them and they are discovered. Honor demands they wed, and while Tobias finds himself unwillingly drawn to the bewitching beauty, he must do everything not to tempt the passion that burns in him for her, lest it leads to disastrous consequences.

I am an avid reader of novels with a deep passion for writing. I especially love romance and enjoy writing about people falling in love. I live a lot in the worlds I create and I actively speak to my characters (out loud). I have a warrior way “Never give up on my dream.” When I am not writing, I spend a copious amount of time drooling over Rick Grimes from The Walking Dead, Lucas Hood from Banshee, watching Japanese Anime and playing video games with my love—Dusean. I also have a horrible weakness for ice cream.

Throwing caution to the wind, Petir decides he has nothing to lose by pursuing Maid Rianne, until she is captured by the enemy. Review

A main character who is very likable and easy for a reader to get behind. He has dealt with something he shouldn’t have had to and you immediately root for him to get away and find something better.
I enjoyed Petir as a lead character. There are plenty of twists along the way that will keep the reader on their toes. The suspense aspect was very well done.

The romance was a great touch and helps to lighten the mood in many areas.

Review

The Action aspect of the story was very well done and does its job to keep the reader flipping pages. There were a few times I had a good laugh as well.

I liked the characters and their interactions with each other. Everything felt authentic.

Rianne’s character reminds me of someone everyone has met before. She doesn’t have major sass or humor, but she is compelling and interesting all the same.

I think that Deborah Ann Davis has done a great job creating a story that is descriptive enough to make the readers feel like they are a part of the world. The plot flows nice and smooth and the characters are all people who I enjoyed reading about and connecting to.

Review

This was a fun romantic read  that had plenty of drama and heartache as well. It will lead you through a barrage of emotions. I loved that the characters both had to overcome things that had happened to them and their journey’s led them closer together and stronger as a couple. There was a great combination of present and past and I liked the fact that the characters had a deeper connection from the past.

Dakota Willink is a contemporary romance writer and editor, and the author of The Stone Series.   She is an associate member of Romance Writers of America.

Dakota has always had a passion for reading and writing. From the time she was an adolescent, she enjoyed curling up with a good paperback, reading genres that ranged from thriller and fantasy, to mystery and romance.  She always dreamed of one day writing her own book, but had put her aspirations on hold to focus on her family and a career that would pay the bills.

Although she earned a degree in business and had built a solid reputation in retail sales, her heart continued to be with fictional characters – whether they belonged to a favorite author or if they were just stories that she made up in her own head.

In 2013, Dakota gathered enough courage to turn her dreams into a reality. In between playing chauffeur to two very busy children and working her job during the day, Dakota began to put words on paper.  Eventually, she began to describe her life as a book.  Everything she saw or heard throughout the day, intertwined with her imagination for the creation of future writings.  By 2014, with the support of her husband and two children, she gave up the security of a steady paycheck and began working on her first novel full time.

Dakota Willink is a lover of music, and appreciates the power and stimulating effect it can have on the brain.  She often uses lyrics and melodies to help her through bouts of writers block.  At the end of her novel, you can find an authors note that recognizes and thanks the artists that gave her inspiration.

Dakota resides in the Western New York area, where she enjoys spending time with family, her two Labrador Retrievers, and her spoiled rotten cat.  During the summer months, she can often be found soaking up the sun on the Great Lakes with her family.

EXCERPT:

With nothing but two hundred yards of grass between us and the nearest row of houses, there’s no way we can escape without being seen. At least they won’t catch us with the brining salt. Now we just need to come up with a good excuse for being out here together. In the middle of the night. I wonder if they’d believe we were just stealing chocolate from the kitchen?

Taro turns to me, dark eyes intense. “Do you trust me?” he asks.

“Of course,” I answer without thought.

Before I know what’s happening, one of his arms wraps firmly around my waist. Taro draws me toward him in a rush, his other arm wrapping around my shoulders.

My boot catches on a rock and I stumble into his chest. My cheek hits his sternum, right against his heart. It pounds against my jaw in a rapid rhythm.

Even as my mind fumbles in shocked understanding, Taro places one hand under my chin. He tilts it upward and I find myself looking into his dark eyes. He leans over, his face stopping only an inch from mine.

His eyes draw me in, pinning me in place. My brain goes all fuzzy. His closeness sends strange sensations through my body. My legs feel mushy and my heart beats too fast.

He leans down, coming close, closer. Our noses touch, and my view of his eyes goes blurry.

His lips brush mine. The touch is light, like a delicate bird landing on a branch. A shockwave goes through me. My legs lose what remains of their strength and go rubbery. I throw my arms around his neck to keep myself upright.

He cinches his arms around me. The pressure of his lips on mine increases.

My eyes slide close of their own volition. My mouth develops a mind of its own, moving against Taro’s with equal pressure.

I lose all sense of place. Some distant, vague part of my mind tries to tell me something, but I can’t hear anything over the roaring of blood in my ears. The world narrows to consist of only Taro. His arms wind around me, holding me as if he never intends to let go. The strong muscles of his legs press against mine. My hands marvel at the strong tendons in his neck and the thick, spiky strands of his hair.

And his lips. I drink in the sensation of him. Our kiss deepens, becoming rough. His tongue slides into my mouth. I inhale sharply in surprise, then strengthen my grip around his neck. I kiss him back, my tongue meeting his. A meteor is streaking through my bloodstream. I am on fire. Taro lifts me off the ground, squashing me against him. We kiss each other hard.

He abruptly pulls away, breathing heavily. I blink in confusion, my breath rasping. With deliberate slowness, he sets me on my feet and takes several steps back from me. Even in the darkness, I see his flushed cheeks.

The separation clears some of the fog from my brain. I stare, dumbfounded, at Taro. I look around, trying to recall where we are and what we were doing before the kiss.

“Nice, Hudanus,” calls the rude, cackling voice of Jason Van Deer. “Always knew you had a thing for Brains. Too bad she doesn’t have better taste.”

 Review

Catherine Lavender really has a magical way of telling a story in a way in which the reader really feels it.

I loved that while there were deep emotions and darker situations, there were light and airy qualities to cut through the dark.

The chemistry between the two characters was outstanding and their growth in their relationship and as people was wonderful to watch unfold.

Catherine Lavender is from Baltimore, Maryland but now resides in the sunshine state of Florida with her miniature schnauzer named Ripken. She is an animal activist, as well as a supporter of the organization First Book which helps supply literature for underprivileged children. In her spare time, Catherine enjoys reading classic literature and playing the acoustic guitar.

Review

Dive into a a Romantic Suspense with Karen Tjebben. She has created a novel that really makes the reader think and feel. This novel shows how much a writer can understand her genre and make sure every in and out is relevant to her end game.

I loved the balance of Romance and Drama in this novel. There is a lot going on and  the characters have a lot they have to get through while trying to understand their budding relationship and fight for it. It is a solid Romantic Suspense.

Karen Tjebben lives in central North Carolina with her wonderful husband, twin daughters, and two hamsters. When her girls left for kindergarten, Karen discovered that she needed to fill her days with something, and that was the beginning of her new career in writing. She loves to create worlds filled with unique characters that she hopes will delight and raise goose bumps on her readers. In her free time, she enjoys traveling with her husband and seeing the world through her daughters’ eyes.
