Skillful hands. A talented tongue.

Meet Mr. May.

Fate’s been messing with veteran Tyree Johnson. It took his buddies in combat and his wife in a fatal car accident. But he’ll be damned if he’ll let Fate take his beloved bar, The Fix on Sixth.

For years, he’s avoided being Fate’s whipping boy through sheer force of will, and now every bit of his focus is centered on saving his business. Until, that is, the first woman who ever touched his heart walks back into his life—along with a daughter he never knew.

After years of loneliness, Tyree’s not prepared for the way Eva’s sensual curves and sharp wit still capture his heart and rekindle his senses. All he knows is that for the first time in forever, he’s found a passion other than his bar. But one final twist arrives when Fate pits the bar he can’t bear to lose against the woman who’s stolen his heart.

He’s a master at red-hot ecstasy.

April Barnes was a simple girl with a simple life. All she wanted was to graduate and help the world. Everything changes when her only friend Vanessa Lewis talks her into covering for her at a catering job. The minute April walked in the door, her curiosity gets the best of her and that curiosity introduced her to a world that would soon be a part of her.
The minute he laid eyes on her, there was only one thing that Dominic Prescott wanted and that was April Barnes. Hidden behind many secrets, the opportunity to get closer to her presented itself when he volunteered to teach an economics class that she was a student of.
Introducing her to his world wasn’t part of his plan. All it took was one taste and she would be forever his, or so he thought until the truth he had kept hidden away is revealed putting them both in danger.
Will she be able to accept his world or will she walk away and leave the only man she ever loved behind…
She wasn’t sure who this man was, but she was hypnotized by his charm. Never before had she submitted to a man based on his request. With shaky hands she began unbuttoning her shirt. The fact that he was watching her made her feel even more nervous. When her shirt fell to the floor, exposing her light pink demi bra, she looked up to him, aware that the half smile on his face was because he approved. Reaching behind her back, she found the zipper of her skirt and pulled it down. Pushing the material down her legs, she let it drop to the floor before she stepped out of it. With only her bra, matching panties, and black heeled shoes on, she stood in front of him waiting for what would happen next.
When he held his hand out to her, she lowered her honey brown eyes and placed her hand in his. He captured her hand and led her to the open panel. Just inside the hidden door, the mysterious man switched on a light that barely lit the narrow hallway. April tried to see where the hallway led, but it was too dark. Feeling the change in the temperature, she began rubbing her arms to get warm. It wasn’t just the lack of clothing that made her cold; the darkness and the thought of not knowing what was in store had her shivering. Taking in her surroundings, she felt something being draped over her shoulders. As she pulled it around her, she noticed that it was a dark blue velvet cape, just like the ones the guests had worn in the ballroom.
Turning to face the mysterious man, she was about to ask where he was taking her, but before she could get the words out, he stilled her in her spot and placed what felt like a mask over her eyes. As he began securing it behind her head, he spoke in a firm but velvety voice. “One of the requirements to enter the chamber is that you will be covered in velvet. Be assured your identity will never be revealed. Can you accept these rules?’
Nodding her head, she allowed him to finish securing the mask. When he gently placed his hands on her shoulders, she turned at his will. She raised her head to his until their eyes met. The look on his face, although mostly covered, told her everything she needed to know. Placing his hand on her chin, he tilted her head and lowered his lips to hers. His tongue swept gently across her parted lips, never dipping inside. Biting her full bottom lip, he ended the kiss and pulled away, leaving her unfulfilled and disappointed.
April tried to resume where he had left off, but was denied as he placed his finger across her mouth. “We need to go,” he ordered, taking hold of her hand.
Reaching the end of the dark hallway, there was a large wooden door with something written in Latin engraved in the wood. Having taken Greek and Latin in college, she translated the words as she read them, ‘Blood of one’s desire is the root of another’s pleasure.’ She wasn’t quite sure exactly what it meant, but just the thought of finding out had her mind reeling with excitement. April watched as he placed his hand on the handle. Getting ready to pull it open, he suddenly pulled his hand back. She was confused by his movement until he looked down at her and warned, “You are to remain by my side unless you are solicited. You will address me as Sir, and most importantly, you will do as I command. Do you understand?

About the Author

Award winning Author of the Independent Press Award and NYC Big Book Award.
My love for writing began several years ago after an early retirement from a demanding job that I loved, but also hated because it consumed so much of my time. Now, I am able to focus my time on what I love. Writing romance has been a life long dream and to actually say that I am a published author is beyond what I would have ever expected.
Even though some may say I have a little naughtiness in my books, I look at it as an added bonus for my readers. After all what is a romance book without a little spice.
When I am not writing, I enjoy spending time with friends either at home or out on the town. Mostly, I enjoy a relaxing night at home where I can enjoy a glass of wine in the company of a good book.

For Deamhan, revenge is the best dish of all.
In 1840s Paris, vampires aren’t just at the throats of humans. Split into two warring factions, Dorvo vampires wage war against the Deamhan, their paranormal cousins created by dark magic and who feed on the psychic energy of their human victims. In this strange new world, Remy, a bourgeoisie, is sired as a Deamhan by Julian. But the intoxicating rush of becoming a powerful psychic vampire is soon eclipsed by the presence of Ruby, a beautiful yet elusive Dorvo vampire.
Betrayed by his own, Ruby feeds his undesirable urge to have his revenge against Julian and the rest of the Deamhan. But he doesn’t know if he can trust Ruby. She may have given him his freedom, but she’s still the enemy who has vowed to vanquish the Deamhan, the very same Deamhan that betrayed him. Now it’s up to Remy to decide who to trust — and who to destroy.
In Remy, The Brotherhood Files, author Isaiyan Morrison presents a paranormal urban fantasy about fractured relationships, mistrust, and forgiveness. Here in the City of Love, it’s anything but, as Remy’s caught between two warring sides who both want him gone. Will his desire for revenge cloud his judgment? Or will he figure out who he can trust once and for all? In this wild journey from the graveyard and through the dark alleys and cobblestoned streets of Paris, Remy is both hunter…and prey.

Remy is a character that while is lovable, is kind of frustrating at times. He is a bit naive in many situations, but his past and upbringing kind of made him that way. I think he is a solid character. I liked to watch him grow into his abilities throughout the novel.

The plot is full of exciting twists along the way and quite easy to follow.

The world that Isaiyan Morrison has created is vivid and fun to become absorbed in.

There are a few moments in my life that have left me breathless—falling off a bull for the first time in competition, getting kicked by a bull, the day Mo broke my heart, and subsequently, the moment she stole every piece of it back.
This moment.
She’s an angel, brought to Earth for the soul purpose of torturing me, and like the devil I am, I enjoy every minute of it.
Pulling her hair over one shoulder, Mo peeks at me. Her cheeks are stained the most delicious color of red as she slowly, deliberately lifts her shirt over her head. The flimsy material falls to the ground as she reaches behind her back to unhook her bra. The straps slip down her arms before joining her shirt on the grassy bank of the pond, and when she shimmies out of her panties and jeans, I nearly lose it.
Her body is breathtaking, a work of art meant to be examined and explored, and I’m the lucky son of a bitch who gets the privilege of doing just that.
I’ve seen Mo naked more times than I can count, but not once has it been like this. Not once has she seduced me with the soft sway of her hips or this hungry look in her eyes.
She’s no longer the girl I knew all those years ago. She’s turned into a beautiful, confident woman who I want to lay before me again. She’s all-consuming: the rise and fall of her chest as she turns to face me, the goosebumps that scatter over her arms when my gaze traces her body, and the vulnerability in her eyes as she comes over to join me on the blanket.
I hold out my hand. Her fingers lace with mine as she straddles my legs and lowers herself to her knees.
Her hand, gentle and steady, cups the side of my face. “There might be six years of pain between us, but nothing has changed. I feel the same way today as I did back then.” She hooks her fingers under the hem of my shirt, dragging it over my head, being extra careful with my shoulder. “And I can’t wait another second to be with you, Rhett.” She smiles. “In fact, I need it more than I need my next breath.”
“Mo.” I push my fingers into her hair, pulling her face to mine, and I kiss her with everything I have. Her tongue pushes between my lips, and we kiss until we’re both panting and breathless.
With her forehead pressed to mine, she searches my eyes. I let her see everything—all the pain and love and happiness she’s brought me. With her hands on my chest, she gently pushes me back onto the blanket. Her hair falls forward, brushing against my chest, creating a curtain. She kisses me once, twice, and then a third time before scooting back. My boots and socks are the first to go, followed by my jeans.

October 17th, 2013
Sarah loved her life as an attending physician.  Everything she had worked for had finally come to fruition.  As the attending on call and in charge of the general OB/GYN residents, Sarah took her responsibilities seriously, especially the teaching of the new residents and medical students.  Tonight, should have been an easy night, but as with everything related to babies, you could just never tell, and the full moon wasn’t helping.
As Sarah stood at the charge nurse desk, filling out paperwork from her fifth delivery of the night she smiled.  Five new lives and five ecstatic families.  Her motivation for wanting this job was simple.  She loved the look of joy on the new parents faces as they held their bundle of joy for the first time.  While she handled most of the deliveries when she was on call, Lincoln and a few of the more senior providers tended to handle the VIP patients and their deliveries, and tonight was no exception.  Sarah looked up to see Dr. Lincoln Montgomery stride into the labor and delivery area of the hospital.  He looked tired and a little haggard, but she knew it was from the lack of sleep since his wife, Nicole, was overdue and not making life easy on him.
“Good evening, Lincoln.  What brings you in tonight?”
“Hey, Sarah.  Rhett Akers wife went into labor, and he’s one of my VIPs and well between us, future employees.  I needed to come in and do the delivery.  They’re so excited about their first baby.”
Sarah smiled outwardly, but groaned inwardly.  Rhett was an all-star catcher for the Braves, but most importantly, he was best friends with one Harrison Cooper.  The one man she had tried to avoid for ten years, and had been pretty successful up to this point.  However, she felt like tonight her luck was going to run out.  “Well, boss.  Good luck with that.”
“Thanks, you don’t like the Akers?”
“No.  I think they’re wonderful.  His wife’s awesome.  No matter what, she always has a smile on her face and is so complimentary towards the staff.  She actually gives the wives and girlfriends a good name.  I just wish they were all like that.”
“So, what’s got you twitchy?   Before you say anything, I can see through you so I know it’s something.”
“I…hell, Lincoln I’ve been trying to avoid his best friend for ten years, also another future employee of yours, and I’ve been pretty successful.  His best friend is Harrison’s father, only he doesn’t know that he’s his father.”
“Well, shit.  That sounds…complicated.  Just out of curiosity, why doesn’t he know that he is the father?”
“I was told he was already a baby daddy when we were dating, I left him and never spoke to him again.  I didn’t find out I was pregnant until after graduation, and I didn’t want to give him the satisfaction of leaving a trail of baby mommas all over the place.”
Lincoln studied her carefully before speaking.  “This is just friendly advice, but keeping a secret like that can come back to haunt you in the end.  However, you’re an adult, and I respect your wishes and right to privacy.  Just know that if you need anything we’re all here for you.”
Before Sarah could thank him, she heard Lincoln’s phone ring.  As she stood there waiting for him to finish the call, she noticed that his face went white.  She didn’t know what the other side of the conversation was, but she was pretty sure it was Nicole telling him that she had gone into labor.
Finally, Lincoln disconnected the call and looked at Sarah.  “So, I need a favor.  Nicole’s gone into labor.  Marcie is bringing everyone here, but I’ll be tied up with delivering Landon.  I’m so sorry to put this on you, and if you aren’t comfortable with it, I can call one of the other attendings, but I really need you to handle the deliver for the Akers.”
Sarah took a deep breath and thought about her options.  She felt that she had become the consummate professional and there was no need to inconvenience any of her colleagues.  Anyway, it wasn’t like Harrison was going to be in the delivery room with them.  “No problem, Lincoln.  I already know Mrs. Akers and it should be a smooth delivery.  I’d be happy to do this for you, so that you can go bring your own bundle of joy into the world.  Just remember when you have a girl, she gets named after me.”  Sarah said with a laugh.
A little while later, Lincoln took Sarah into see the Akers and explain the situation.  They were both very happy to have her do the delivery, but as she was about to leave the room, Rhett gently took her arm and led her over to the side of the room.
“I know you, don’t I?  I can’t place it, but I know we have met before and not at the doctor’s office.”
Sarah’s face blanched as she looked into the piercing green eyes of the all-star catcher.  She could either lie and try to live with it or tell him the truth and deal with the consequences.  After everything she had been through, the one thing that Dr. Cole Ryan had taught her and had stuck with her the most was to love yourself and embrace who you are.  Finally, she looked at Rhett and said, “Yes, we knew each other, many years ago when we were at Georgia together.”
Suddenly a look of recognition took over Rhett’s face.  “Shit, I mean shoot.  Sorry I’m trying to quit the cussing thing with the baby coming and all, but I work around ballplayers all day and they sort of use cuss words as a normal part of their vocabulary.  What I meant to say was, you were Harrison’s girlfriend.  You’re the one…”  Before he could finish his statement, his wife Alexa started screaming as another contraction began to wrack her body.
Sarah went to the bedside and checked the monitors.  Everything seemed to be progressing normally.  She called the anesthesiologists on call to get the epidural started.  Once she was confident that everything was as it should be, she left the room to do her follow-ups on the patients she’d already delivered, but as she walked away, something was niggling at her brain.  He had said ‘I was the one who…’ and never got to finish.  I was the one who what?  Broke his heart, turned him gay.  Sarah laughed at that last thought.  What did I do?  Because he sure as hell broke me and left me with a hole in my heart.  Shaking her head to clear her thoughts, she proceeded to make her rounds and check in with her residents.
After rounds, she went back to check on Mrs. Akers and found that she was progressing nicely already dilated to 10 cm and at a +2 station.  She knew it wouldn’t be long, so she had the staff rearrange the bed and get the Akers ready to welcome their daughter into the world.  After twenty-five minutes of pushing, crying, and screaming, the Akers welcomed a very healthy girl into the world at 8lbs 7oz and 20 inches long.  She smiled as she watched Rhett cut the cord and then placed the baby on Mrs. Akers stomach.
Harrison Cooper had never been so nervous in his entire life, and it wasn’t even his baby.  At thirty-one he’d never had to deal with a pregnant female, well not one of his doing.  He paced the waiting room looking around at his teammates who were still in town.  At least the hospital was nice enough to have a VIP waiting room so they wouldn’t be bombarded with autograph requests and whatnot.  Harrison didn’t mind signing autographs and loved the kids at the baseball stadium because he remembered what is was like when he was a kid, but this was not about him or the guys surrounding him.  This was solely about Rhett and his baby.
As Harrison paced the room, his mind took an unhealthy journey back in time.  He wondered if he would ever find someone who didn’t just want him for his fame and fortune.  Sarah was the only one he’d ever been with who cared about him as a person.  He’d spent too much time over the last ten years wondering what went wrong with them.  For the life of him, he could never figure it out.  They’d been so happy, and then one night she slapped him, ran out the door, and never spoke to him again.  She was still the last thing he thought about before he went to sleep, and the first thing he thought of when he awoke, but still he wondered what could’ve been.  Would they have a child, or hell ten children?  Well, not ten children, but would there be a little boy that looked like him, or a little girl that took after her mother.  She was the reason he had screwed his way through the minor leagues and every away game they went to, but still none of them could erase her memory.  He loved women, but he had a die-hard rule, no brunettes and no doctors.
As he tried to shake off the melancholy mood he was in, he heard it.  The voice of an angel or devil depending on the mood he was in.  The voice he dreamt of, and had spent ten years looking for.  Could his luck be changing?  Could karma finally be swinging in his direction?  Harrison was unaware that his feet were moving him towards the voice, but in a matter of a few steps, he stood before her.  The one he desired, dreamed of and hated.  She had matured into her body.  She had the curves of a woman, not the girl he had known, but nonetheless she was right there in front of him.  All he had to do was reach out and touch her.
Sarah was speaking to her nurse when she felt her body’s temperature spike and a warm feeling suffuse her entire body.  She knew what it was and who it was.  God, she’d dreaded this day for ten years, and now, it was time to pay the piper for all the things she’d done.  That rich deep voice raised goosebumps on her flesh.
Harrison stood in front of her and valiantly restrained his hands from reaching out to touch her to make sure she wasn’t an apparition and that she was really standing right there.  Finally finding his voice, he softly said, “Sarah.”
Sarah didn’t know what to do or say as he spoke her name.  All her thoughts went back to her son and the fact that he didn’t know he was a father to her child.  All the anger surfaced again at what he’d done to her.  Unable to stop herself, she raised her hand and slapped him before muttering “Asshole” and running away.

From the Author of The Slender Man, comes a new horror novel, Eternal Victim.
Follow the Witness as she travels through a perpetual series of nightmares, haunted by a mixture of pernicious serial killers and their imprisoned, undead victims, known as preta. As she wanders through time and memories shared by the killers and their victims, she fights to solve the puzzle of their connection to each other and to herself. Her only hope of salvation lies in connecting key victims to the souls who can rescue them, thus waking her from the nightmare, but one killer follows the next, bringing forth a new set of victims, a new score of preta, and immediately landing her in a new terror.
Beep. Beep. Beep. That sound. I wake with a gasp that burns my throat. My eyes sting from the abrupt refocus, although there’s almost no light for them to adjust to. I strain to turn my head. Every part of my body resists the movement with a coarse mix of numbness and raw pain. As I swallow, the feeling of hot gravel rubs against my esophagus. I twitch my legs, but an intense throbbing tears at what’s between them. Something terrible has happened to me.
Bearing through the pain and the shock, I steady my shaky breathing and, through sheer force of will, begin to rise. I try to cry out but my dried and bruised throat won’t let much more than a croaked hiss escape.
Finally managing to sit straight, I lean forward, giving my body a rest. What happened to me I cannot recall, but whatever happened, whoever attacked me… they’re not all I’ve forgotten. The only thing harder than trying to move is trying to invoke a single memory. My name… this place… I don’t remember how to think, and the attempt alone cues a minor ache in the front of my temple.
The room is dark, but between the railed bed and this cotton gown I’m wearing, I must be in a hospital. Not even the moon pities me enough to send a usable ray of light.
No sound escapes from outside—neither footsteps from the hall nor traffic from the street. It’s so quiet I can almost hear my heartbeat, but even that’s so… so faint. Is it even there? I put a hand to my heart to check if I’m alive. I stop.
There is a tube embedded in my arm, secured with tape. It leads to a—

As I approach the edge of the winding river less than a minute’s walk from my cottage, it’s like someone has injected me with life. With a lift of my chin, I close my eyes and inhale until I’m no longer dulled and disoriented. Everything becomes clear. In Balsam Grove, I breathe the air with new lungs, feel the breeze with new skin, and see the land through new eyes.

I don’t try to navigate my way. I hike beside the river, around every curve and bend, uphill and against the current. It’s a familiar path, but my focus isn’t on the destination. Every now and then I stop to take a drink from the stream, pluck a fiery pink flower, and tune into a wild animal scampering across fallen leaves. But it’s not until I reach a steeper incline that I take a moment to assess where I’m headed.

The river has significantly increased in speed since I began walking a few minutes ago. A steeper incline forces me to distance myself from the water’s edge, onto a more manageable path through the woods. My thighs burn from the steady climb, and my throat aches from dehydration. I never planned to journey this far, but I could have at least thought to bring water. I’m ready to turn back, find the river, and drink from it when I spot the top of a familiar red house peeking over the hill. Hummingbirds unleash in my chest as I inch forward.

Mere seconds later, I’m standing on flat land again, taking in the two-story home that overlooks a waterfall, an old millhouse beside it. It’s like it came out of nowhere, but this house—it’s home to some of my best memories, my biggest dreams, and the beginning of the horrible nightmare that ended life as I knew it.
“Ah, that’s my girl,” a voice booms in the distance. “Bring it here, Lacey.”
Shit. Jaxon?
My eyes sweep left, to the source of the river. Two waterfalls coming from different directions spill into one body of water where Jaxon treads. He’s patting the water as Lacey paddles over with a stick in her mouth.
Jaxon takes the stick, then rubs her head before she continues paddling to the edge of the river. After she climbs out and does a full body shake to dry off, he tosses the stick to the side and turns back to the water, swimming lap after lap until I’ve lost count. Every powerful stroke reveals inches of well-cut muscle and betrays his familiarity with the water.
Jaxon always loved everything about the water. Diving, swimming, fishing…sex. I shiver at the memory of how well our slick bodies fit together. Of his delicate fingers stripping me of my bikini top so he could see all of me as he inched his way into my body, my heart. Of his hot mouth wrapping around my pebbled nipple just to hear my whispered cry. Of the way he watched me with hooded eyes as I came for him, my back pressed against a boulder and the plunging falls above us swallowing my cries.
He took everything good from me, but it was me that handed it over for the taking.
He’s still mesmerizing, and I can’t take my eyes off him now. With every stroke, I imagine him swimming away from me, away from our past and deeper into the rushing swell of the stream. How long has he been swimming? How far?
I swallow my anxiety as he finally breaks from his exercise to catch his breath. When he does, I’m as breathless as he is.
I’m not sure how long I’ve been staring when he uses the slick rocks to pull himself from the water, but I’m completely captivated by the droplets coursing down his naked back and arms. He’s all strength and agility, effortlessly pulling himself to his feet. I should turn away, but I don’t. Instead, I watch as water glides from his long hair, down his narrow waist, and then over the most beautiful ass I’ve ever seen.
Is he…?
I gasp, my hand clapping over my mouth. But it’s too late. One slip of my breath is all it takes for Lacey’s snout to jerk in my direction and sound off the first menacing growl.

Megan Thompson is surprised and happy when Dr.Newton, the Veterinarian at the Furry Friends Clinic, ask her to look after Monty, a Capuchin monkey.  Dr. Newton acquired Monty from the local zoo because he was fighting other monkeys. Despite Monty’s reputation with the vet staff as being a terror, Megan knows she can win Monty over.   Megan see’s the inner workings of a vet clinic, and before the three days are up she wants to help every pet she can.  Unfortunately, the vet staff sees Megan as an annoying little kid not part of the team.  Megan can’t bear to hear any more talk about Cooper, a sad Shih Tzu that won’t eat his meals. She knows she could help him and others at the clinic if given the chance.  How can Megan earn the staff’s trust?  Will she ever be allowed to handle any other pets besides Monty?  Every kid has a summer to which they just want to go back to when they are all grown up. This is Megan’s summer, this is the summer when Megan became the Pet Whisperer.
The next morning, Megan woke to her kittens racing across the bed. Peeking at the digital clock on her nightstand, she saw it was only five-thirty. She rolled on her back and tried to go back to sleep, but somehow Petey had seen her look at the alarm clock.
With a meow, he jumped back on the bed and started purring as he walked up Megan’s chest. He sat briefly on her chest, staring at her before flopping against her face still purring. With his back and head against her chin, his fur tickled her nose.
“ACHOO,” Megan said, startling all the kittens off the bed.
“Sorry, guys. Petey, your fur tickled my nose. Okay, I’m up, and I know that’s what you wanted.”
Megan stretched and yawned as she walked across her bedroom. She quickly put out the kittens food and then sat on the floor near them, still trying to wake up.
By 6 a.m. Megan was excited to go see Monty. She played with her kittens until she heard her parents moving around downstairs.
“I’ll be back, babies,” Megan promised as she shut the door to her room.
”Morning,” Megan said cheerfully to her parents as she entered the kitchen.
“Morning,” her dad said.
“You are up early,” her mom commented.
“Yeah, I’m so excited to go care for Monty this morning. I will get to see how a vet clinic runs, too.”
“It’s good experience for you,” her dad agreed.
After breakfast and seeing her parents off to work, Megan went back to her room and dressed in jeans and a T shirt.
“Okay, kitten cats, I’m going to go take care of Monty. I have to feed him and let him play for an hour. I’ll be home by eleven for sure, and we will spend time together since I don’t have to be back at the clinic until three-thirty.”
Megan kissed each of her babies and headed for Dr. Newton’s office. The morning was still cool, so Megan didn’t mind jogging the quarter mile.
It was just after eight when Megan pulled the Furry Friends Clinic doors open.
“Morning, Mary,” Megan said. She was happy that she had been introduced to the staff. Now she really felt like she was part of the vet’s office.
Megan approached Monty’s cage. As usual, Monty was crouched on the platform at the back of his cage.
“Morning, sleepyhead. Do you want to come out and play?” Megan cooed, unlocking the cage door.
As she knelt by his cage, Monty eyed her for a moment before hesitantly approaching the door.
A client with two vocal basset hounds came into the lobby just as Monty was about to come out.
The basset hounds baying sent Monty scurrying back to the safety of his platform with a shrill scream.
“It’s okay, Monty,” Megan soothed as she watched the woman with the basset hounds be led into an exam room.
It only took a moment of the lobby being quiet for Monty to come back down to the door. He stared at Megan, his big brown eyes already showed he trusted her.
With one quick leap, Monty landed on Megan’s shoulder. Grabbing her hair, he balanced himself.
“Ow,” Megan cringed as he pulled her hair again and settled on her shoulder.
Once she was sure he was seated, she slowly got to her feet. With a hand on his back as she walked, Megan headed to the kitchen.
“Morning,” Cory greeted her.
“Morning,” Megan replied with a smile.
Cory took a few steps backward as Megan approached to get the toys from the cabinet.
“Monty’s food is soaking, but it has only been about fifteen minutes,” Cory explained.
“Okay, we will play for a while. Thanks for making it,” said Megan.
Cory nodded and headed out of the room as another tech called his name.
Once Cory had left the room, Monty jumped from Megan’s shoulder to the counter. He opened his toy drawer and rummaged for the toy he wanted.
He found the keyring toy that he was looking for and handed it to Megan.
Megan took the toy from Monty and shook it gently in front of him so the keys rattled together.
Monty’s eyes lit up as he watched the colored keys dance.
When Megan held the keys still again, Monty took them and repeated Megan’s action. He was able to make the keys rattle, too.
He said, “Oooh, ooh, eee, aah.”
As he continued to shake the keys, he jumped off the counter and ran around the room rattling the keys and talking to himself.
Megan giggled at his antics as she watched him circle the room for the second time. As he passed her again, Megan sat down on the floor.
The next time Monty circled around, he ran up and jumped in Megan’s lap pushing the keys up to Megan’s nose.
Megan giggled again and playfully fell over backward.
Monty walked up her chest just like her kittens and rattled the keys in her face.
Megan covered her face with her hands so the keys couldn’t hit her.
This action intrigued Monty. He dropped the keys and put his hands on Megan’s attempting to pull her hands from her face.
Megan let him lift her hands up briefly. She smiled and said, “Boo!”
Then she quickly covered her face again.
Monty talked, “Ooh, ooh, eee, aaa, “ as he pulled Megan’s hands from her face a few more times.
After the fourth boo, Monty was bored with the game and wandered over to the cabinets.
“No, Monty, come play with your blocks,” Megan said, pulling the bucket of blocks to the middle of the room and dumping them on the floor.
Monty left the cabinets and came over to where Megan sat. He dug through the blocks and found two red ones. He put one on the ground and started hammering it using the other block.
Megan watched him work and then started building a tower. She got her tower to be a foot tall before Monty took interest and knocked it over with a quick backhanded motion.
“Monty, you knocked my tower down. I was building that,” Megan laughed.
Megan built the tower again. This time he helped her put the blocks in place. Once the tower got to be a foot tall, he knocked it over again.
Megan rolled her eyes and glanced up at the clock.
“Okay, Monty, your food should be ready. Let’s give you some breakfast.”
Megan got up and opened the door to the refrigerator. As she searched the shelves for Monty’s containers, he came up to her side. Grabbing a handful of her jeans and then a handful of her shirt, he climbed up to her shoulder and peered in the refrigerator too.
“Good boy,” Megan praised as she grabbed the two containers from the shelf and shut the door. Monty watched from Megan’s shoulder as she combined the vegetables and fruit together and then mixed up the pellets and canned food.
Once in the lobby, Megan poured the contents of the containers in the dishes in Monty’s cage. Monty hopped into his cage eager to check out his food dishes. Megan sat on the floor in front of his cage, watching to make sure Monty ate. He dug through both bowls. Once he had a carrot piece in one hand and a pellet in the other, Monty climbed out of his cage and onto Megan’s lap. Monty chewed on his chosen pieces of food for a few minutes. Then he dropped them on the floor and went to retrieve two new pieces.
Tess came up to the front to talk to Mary. “Cooper the Shih Tzu that checked in on Saturday isn’t eating. What else can I offer him?”
Mary pulled his file from the cabinet behind her. After reading it for a moment, she replied, “He has severe food allergies. You can’t give him anything but what his owner brought.”
Tess sighed and returned to the back.
Megan couldn’t help but ask, “What will Tess do to get Cooper to eat?”
“We do several things here. Sometimes adding hot water to their food makes them eat. I’m not sure what all she has tried already,” Mary replied.
Megan nodded. Despite not knowing Cooper, Megan felt bad for him.
It had to be so scary being boarded when you’re a dog. It has to be terrible to not understand when or if your mom is coming back. I will ask Tess about Cooper this afternoon and try to help.
Monty had eaten two thirds of his food. The remains of pieces were scattered across Megan’s lap, but Monty had went to his platform to rest.
Megan cleaned the floor and shut Monty’s cage door.
“See you this afternoon,” Megan said to Monty and Mary.
Her mind raced as she walked home. Monty is so fun to care for. He is so easy. I don’t think I could ever board my kittens. They would be so scared. I hope Tess can get Cooper to eat. I know I could help Cooper if I was allowed to spend time with him.
